The two-storey home on display at Stampede Park will be relocated after the World’s Greatest Outdoor Show to the southeast community of Walden, while the 618-square-foot, top floor condo in Homes by Avi’s Argyle development in University District will be ready and waiting.

“This is our 26th Dream Home with the Calgary Stampede in 27 years as there was no home during COVID-19. Being able to showcase our work and help the community is a great way for our organization to give back,” said Charron Ungar, CEO of Homes by Avi. “And in all the dream homes I’ve been in, based on my personal taste, this one is the most spectacular.”

The 2,523-square-foot, three-bedroom home, the largest Dream Home to date, has a 214-square-foot wraparound porch and was designed for placement on a corner lot with a back lane. Once relocated, it will have a rear attached garage. The interior features arched doorways and built-ins with white oak millwork, a design esthetic that Julie Punter, Homes by Avi manager of show home selections and presentation, calls “Natural Style Modern.”

“The modern pertains to the Art Deco period but takes it back to a softer styling. It takes out the harshness of the deco and brings it back into soft curving and soft touches. You can see in the furniture in the home,” she said.

The open concept main floor with a 10-foot ceiling features an office immediately at the front door with fluted white oak wall panelling and an adjacent half-bath.

“Panelling is back, only it’s nicer, cleaner and not as busy,” Punter says. The home has a convenient second half-bath at the back door, which will be off the future garage.

The brilliantly lit kitchen, with LED strip lights that are both under and over the cabinets and floating shelves, features gold fixtures and built-in appliances, including a cappuccino machine.

Upstairs, there are three generously sized bedrooms, a full bathroom and a surprisingly elaborate bonus room built for entertaining with a wine fridge, bar sink and backlight glass-door cupboards with more gold accents. There’s a deck off the bonus room which is plumbed-in for natural gas.

The primary bedroom boasts illuminated dropped tray ceilings and a European-inspired ensuite with a walk-in closet to the laundry room.

The work of Christy Niedersteiner, the 2022 Homes by Avi Stampede Dream Home Artist, is showcased through the home.

The prize package includes the furniture, blinds, decor and Fulgor Milano appliances all valued at $75,000 and, of course, the one-bedroom, one-bathroom Dream Condo in Argyle or $250,000 in cash.

In 2021, the Calgary Stampede Lotteries gave back more than $2.5 million to the southern Alberta community and to local charities through the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park, and the Kinsmen Club of Calgary.

Virtual tours of the home are available at homesbyavi.com. Tickets are available at Calgarystampedelotteries.ca or on the grounds July 8 to 17.
