Panjut decoration competition enlivens Ramadan atmosphere at UiTM Melaka

ALOR GAJAH, April 27 (Bernama) — A whole of 640 oil lamps were being utilised to decorate 16 panjut (structures produced of bamboo) at a decoration levels of competition held in conjunction with the Malam Tujuh Likur programme organised by the College of Inventive Arts, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Melaka.

Venture chief who is also a lecturer in industrial style and design, Ahmad Faiz Anuar, stated the programme was element of the initiatives to enliven the ambiance of Ramadan and rejoice the traditions of the Malay neighborhood forward of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“After a two-yr hiatus, we proceed to organise this yearly programme to give the students the prospect to expertise this tradition.

“It is hoped that this programme can challenge the students’ creativeness and innovation abilities to display screen many layouts of panjut with the traditional Malay dwelling notion, and at the very same time reinforce their friendship and unity,” he instructed Bernama below.

A university student, Muhammad Haikal Ikhtiaruddin Mohd Mazlishama, 19, from Johor, stated it was a new and pleasurable practical experience for him as he will get to find out how to put in and adorn the panjut.
